What We Believe

Crisis Chaplaincy Services provides caring compassion and encouraging support to anyone in need regardless of race, sex, creed, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, color, or disability.  Listed below are the core beliefs that direct our lives and conduct.

The Bible

All of the writings of both the Old and New Testaments were verbally inspired by God and are therefore without error as originally written. They are the supreme and final authority of our faith and life. (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

God

There is one triune God, eternally existing and manifesting Himself to us in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 14:6-10; Mathew 28:19; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4)

Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born from the Virgin Mary. This was done so that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man (men, women, & children).  We believe He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a propitiatory and substitutionary sacrifice, and our redemption is made sure by His resurrection from the dead in the identical, though glorified, body in which He was crucified (Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2; Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 1:3-5).  The Lord Jesus Christ is now in Heaven exalted at the right hand of God, where, as High Priest for His people, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor and Advocate.  (Hebrews 7:24; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, in the present age indwells all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, is the element in which Christ baptizes believers in the body of Christ, and seals believers unto the day of redemption.  We further believe the Holy Spirit is the source of strength, which allows us to live godly lives for the glory of God. (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-24; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 5:18-20

Man

Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but through Adam's sin became alienated from God, acquired a sin nature, and came under the judicial sentence of death.  (Genesis 1:25-27; Romans 3:22-23)

Salvation

Salvation is God's free gift to us, but each of us must personally accept it.  We can never make up for by self-improvements or good works.  Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty.  When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Christ in faith we are saved.  Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith. (John 1:12; John 3:16; John 14:6; Romans 5:1; Romans 6:23; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5)

Resurrection

Both the saved and the lost will be resurrected.  The saved will be resurrected into eternal life with God and the lost into eternal separation from God. (Revelation 22:11-15)

Spiritual Unity

The spiritual unity of all believers is in our Lord Jesus Christ as we are all members of His body. (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:20-27; Ephesians 4:12-25)
